The Phil Norman Tentet plays arrangements by the legendary Bob Florence, who used to write for and play in the Tentet... up until his passing last year. Bob also used to compose and arrange music for Blake Edwards' films and Julie Andrews, too. He led his own big band called The Limited Edition. A GIANT talent. The Tentet also plays compositions by Miles Davis, Horace Silver, Oliver Nelson, and Bill Holman, among others, in arrangements by Roger Neumann, Med Flory, Kim Richmond, and more.
CSULB Concert Jazz Orchestra
Jeff Jarvis has led the CSULB Concert Jazz Orchestra to two performances at The Monterey Jazz Festival! They're just back from playing to capacity crowds at Monterey and are gearing up to finish a new CD! They'll be playing music by Stan Kenton, among others, featuring Cuban Fire!
Christine Guter took the CSULB Vocal Jazz Ensemble I -- called Pacific Standard Time -- to the Monterey Next Generation Festival earlier this year. It was the first time university vocal ensembles were permitted to compete for the coveted Monterey Jazz Festival appearance... and they WON! So Pacific Standard Time is also fresh from singing to capacity crowds at Monterey. This polished vocal ensemble is in the Singers Unlimited tradition --
performing a wide repertoire of new and classic songs,
but swinging all the time.
